PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controlling agent against soft rot disease capable of being mixed with a copper agent which is relatively widely used for controlling large number of mold fungous diseases and bacterium disease which are known as diseases in vegetables besides soft rot disease. SOLUTION: A bacterium strain which is imparted with the resistance to copper and belongs to nonpathogenic Erwinia carotovora; and a method for controlling soft rot disease by applying said bacterial strain to a crop. Examples of the bacterial strain include Erwinia carotovora subspecies, carotovora strain KAM-2-19. By spraying a mixture of copper resistant nonpathogenic Erwinia carotovora bacteria and copper agent over a crop, soft rot disease and other targeting pests can be controlled simultaneously by one spray.
