Disclosed are an optical network distribution method and an optical distribution network (ODN). The optical distribution network uses periodic wavelength division multiplexing modules. By periodically allocating wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical signals in the uplink and downlink directions, all wavelength division multiplexing modules in the second stage are the same, and wavelength division multiplexing modules in the second stage are interchangeable. It solves the problem that in the two-stage optical splitting wavelength routing ODN network, the wavelengths distributed by the second stage wavelength splitters are different and the second stage wavelength splitters are not interchangeable, thereby achieving the uniformity of the second stage wavelength splitters, reducing the cost for large-scale production of the optical splitters, and reducing the maintenance costs of the optical splitters.
