The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating diseases caused by angiogenesis, including a Nelumbo nucifera (lotus leaf) extracts as an active ingredient. More specifically, in the present invention, the lotus leaf extract is extracted by one solvent selected from the group consisting of water, low carbon number (C1-C4) alocohol, hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and a mixture solvent thereof. A study for preventing angiogenesis by using the lotus leaf extract found that the lotus leaf extract regardless of solvents inhibits angiogenesis caused by a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) according to the level of concentration. As a result of the study, the lotus leaf extract can be used as a material for inhibiting angiogenesis.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015본 발명은 연잎 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 혈관신생으로 인한 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 상세하게는 상기 연잎 추출물은 물, C1 내지 C4의 저급 알코올, 헥산, 메틸렌 클로라이드, 에틸아세테이트 및 이들의 혼합용매로 구성된 군으로부터 선택된 어느 하나의 용매로 추출한 것을 특징으로 한다. 연잎 추출물의 혈관신생억제효과 실험에서는 추출 용매에 관계없이 혈관내피세포성장인자(VEGF)에 의해 유도된 신생혈관형성을 농도 의존적으로 억제하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 결과는 연잎 추출물이 혈관신생 억제 효능 물질로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
