Provided are an apparatus and method for the long-term production of a drinking water in which active hydrogen is dissolved at a high concentration.Specifically disclosed is a method for producing active hydrogen-dissolved water, which uses water of any one of the following items (1) to (3) containing at least any one of or both of calcium ion and magnesium ion; a hydrogen molecule dissociative adsorption catalyst that decomposes hydrogen molecules into active hydrogen in an aqueous solution; and a catalyst holding vessel that holds the hydrogen molecule dissociative adsorption catalyst, or uses water of any of the following items (1) to (3) containing at least any one of or both of calcium ion and magnesium ion; and a hydrogen molecule dissociative adsorption catalyst that decomposes hydrogen molecules into active hydrogen in an aqueous solution and retains the water for a certain time period, and which includes bringing the hydrogen molecule dissociative adsorption catalyst into contact with the water:(1) water that has been in contact with magnesium metal;(2) water in which hydrogen gas has been dissolved by bubbling or applying high pressure; and(3) water that has been electrolyzed.
