PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puffed confectionery produced by direct puff treatment and improved in its palate feeling to have soft and extremely meltable palate feeling, and to provide a method for producing the puffed confectionery.

SOLUTION: The method for producing puffed confectionery includes feeding a raw material consisting mainly of cereal and/or starch into an extruder to subject the raw material to the direct puff treatment to make a puffed dough for the confectionery, and using two pressing molds having protrusions and depressions to place the puffed dough in the molds so as to engage the protruding parts with the depressed parts of the molds to pressurize the puffed dough. The puffed confectionery includes a plurality of grooves at its surface, and includes grooves at its reverse surface at positions alternately shifted from those of the grooves at the surface.
