PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device for orthodontics, which overcomes a slipping problem, is relatively easy to handle, and is quickly attached to an arch wire. A main body (26) has a first arm portion (40) and a second arm portion (42) separated from each other and connected to each other. Each arm portion has a jaw portion provided with an inner gripping surface for the archwire. The inner gripping surfaces are spaced apart from each other and face each other, and the gap between the inner gripping surfaces defines a receiving station 48 in which the archwire is received. At least a portion of the containment station is smaller than the archwire. The arm portions elastically deflect outwardly away from each other so that the archwire can be introduced into the receiving station. After being seated in the receiving station, the archwire is held tightly by the inner gripping surface and resists displacement of the gripping device with respect to said archwire.
