The invention primarily relates to a device (1) for assisting the grip of the thumb (2) of the hand (3), comprising an orthosis (5) having a recess (12) for inserting the thumb (2) defined by at least one rigid portion (5a) of the orthosis (5), extending around the base (2a) of the thumb (2) and configured to allow the flexion/extension of the thumb (2) and to limit the other movements of the thumb (2), an attachment element (6) to be placed around the thumb (2), first (7) and second (8) flexible link elements linking the first portion (5) to the second portion (6), each comprising a first end (7a, 8a) fixed to the second portion (6), the first end (7a) of the first flexible link element (7) being fixed to the outer face (2e) of the thumb (2) and the first end (8a) of the second flexible link element (8) being fixed to the inner face (2i) of the thumb (2), at least one actuator (10, 11), fixed to the first portion (5), comprising at least one rotating shaft (10a, 11a) for actuating the first (7) and second (8) flexible link elements by winding and/or unwinding the first (7) and second (8) flexible link elements to respectively allow the flexion/extension of the thumb (2), and at least one guide member (13, 14), located on the first portion (5), to constrain the path of each of the first (7) and second (8) flexible link elements between the first (7a, 8a) and second (7b, 8b) ends of same, the second flexible link element (8) extending at least in part substantially along the base (2a) of the thumb (2) so as to leave the palm (9) of the hand (3) free.
