PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide dog or service dog detection system and detection method of the same, capable of informing an assisting person of the presence of an assisted person, and providing such a town environment as to allow the assisted person to comfortably move or walk, etc. in town.SOLUTION: The guide dog or service dog detection system 10 includes: an RFID tag 12 which is attached to a guide dog or service dog and which holds identification information for identifying the guide dog or service dog a reader/writer 14 attached to a structure 18 and a data storage device 16 which has a memory 16D for storing identification data associated with the identification information and an owner of the guide dog or service dog, and which can communicate with the reader/writer 14. The reader/writer 14 transmits a detection signal of the RFID tag 12 to the data storage device 16 when receives a signal from the RFID tag 12.
