PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pet search system and pet search method capable of easily finding a straying pet.SOLUTION: The pet search system 10 includes: an RFID tag 12 which is attached to a pet P and which holds identification information for specifying the pet P a reader/writer 14 attached to a structure 18 and a data storage device 16 which can communicate with the reader/writer 14. The reader/writer 14 transmits a detection signal of the RFID tag 12 to the data storage device 16 when receives a signal from the RFID tag 12. The data storage device 16 receives the detection signal from the reader/writer 14 and stores the received signal as a detection history of the RFID tag 12.
