PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoacoustic apparatus, a photoacoustic apparatus control method, and an analyte holding member for the photoacoustic apparatus which reduces the possibility that unnecessary high-density light enters the eyes of an analyte and an operator in a period when photoacoustic measurement is not performed.SOLUTION: The photoacoustic apparatus comprises: a holding part 6 for holding an analyte 8 a light irradiation part 5 which irradiates the analyte 8 with light via the holding part 6 and a probe 12 which receives an acoustic wave 10 propagated from the analyte 8.
