The present invention provides a method for inhibiting the growth of pathogens in an animal feed comprising the steps of: contacting an animal feed with at least one lactic acid bacterium strain selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus salivarius (L14, L28 and FS56), a mixture thereof or a whey obtained from fermentation of the lactic acid bacterium strain, wherein the at least one lactic acid bacterium strain inhibits the growth of the pathogens, the nosocomial pathogens or the spoilage microorganisms in the pet food.La présente invention concerne un procédé dinhibition de la croissance dagents pathogènes dans des aliments pour animaux, comprenant les étapes consistant à : mettre en contact un aliment pour animaux avec au moins une souche de bactérie lactique choisie dans le groupe constitué par Lactobacillus salivarius (L14, L28 et FS56), un mélange de celles-ci ou du lactosérum obtenu à partir de la fermentation de la souche de bactérie lactique, ladite souche de bactérie lactique inhibant la croissance des agents pathogènes, des agents pathogènes nosocomiaux ou des micro-organismes provoquant lautolyse dans les aliments pour animaux domestiques.
