The joint connection structure 1311 comprises a column assembly 1313 and beam assembly 1317. The column assembly includes a column 1315 having a longitudinal axis and a pair of gusset plates 1321 connected to opposite sides of the column and extending laterally outward from the column. The column has bearing elements 1314 connected to each gusset plate. The beam assembly includes a beam 1319 and flanges 1332 and 1334. The beam also includes a bearing element 1324 attached to it. The bearing elements of the beam and the column are positioned with respect to each other for engagement. The beam is located between the gusset plates. The respective bearing elements on the beam and column assemblies may be designed to interlock with each other.
