The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) that inhibit Rho kinase, a bicyclic dihydropyrimidine-carboxamide derivative, methods of preparing the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and their therapeutic use. In particular, the compounds of the present invention have been implicated in a number of ROCK enzyme mechanisms, such as pulmonary diseases including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
