Disclosed is a container-packed, low-acid beverage wherein the pH is adjusted by means of sodium bicarbonate, and wherein the concentration of carbon dioxide gas per unit volume of headspace when collected in a saturated sodium chloride solution having a pH no greater than 4 is no greater than 10% when stored at 25°C, and no greater than 20% when stored at 75°C. To produce this beverage, sodium bicarbonate is added to a highly concentrated, high-temperature, low-acid beverage, which is stirred, and after eliminating carbon dioxide gas by means of the aforementioned sodium bicarbonate, the beverage is prepared by dilution, and fills a container, which is sealed. As a result, a decrease in striking-test precision in the manufacturing step as well as seal defects and container deformation arising during storage of the container in a hot warmer due to of carbon dioxide gas deriving from the sodium bicarbonate added to regulate the pH are prevented.
