A process is provided for preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive hydrogel,comprising: (A) providing an oligomeric precursor, the oligomeric precursorcomprising a polyether moiety endcapped with ethylenic unsaturation, theoligomeric precursor being associated with methacrylic acid (B) providing anethylenically unsaturated crosslinking agent selected from the groupconsisting of difunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, trifunctionalethylenically unsaturated monomer and combinations of the foregoing (C) freeradically curing the oligomeric precursor and the ethylenically unsaturatedcrosslinking agent in water at a pH between about 3.5 and about 9 to providethe pressure sensitive adhesive hydrogel.
