The sensor has three electrodes that are provided between two measuring fields, where one of the measuring fields is longer than another measuring field. Lengths of the electrodes are different. The electrodes are arranged parallel to each other. The electrodes exhibit the same distance to each other. The electrodes are arranged in a channel in a particle filter. The electrodes extend against the direction of flow of an exhaust gas flowing through the particle filter. The electrodes are arranged downstream at the end of the channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for testing state of a particle filter.
