This method for producing a sheet-like member for an absorbent article comprises: a step in which a continuous body 35a of an elastic member is fed out by over-end unwinding; an arrangement step in which the continuous body 35a of the elastic member is arranged in an extended state between facing surfaces of continuous bodies of a sheet-like member facing each other along a conveyance direction; a joining section formation step in which joining sections j for joining the facing surfaces to each other are formed; and a cutting step in which the continuous bodies of the sheet-like member and the continuous body 35a of the elastic member are cut to generate a sheet-like member and an elastic member 35. The cross-sectional shape of the continuous body 35a of the elastic member has a longitudinal direction. In the arrangement step, the continuous body 35a is brought into contact with the facing surfaces while the orientation of the continuous body 35a is changed so that the lengths of traverse sections 35ay become longer than the lengths of raised sections 35ak. In the joining section formation step, the abovementioned orientation is maintained while forming the joining sections j on both sides of the continuous body 35a in a CD direction.
