The present subject matter provides a sanitizing composition comprising ethanol having weight percentage in the range of 60-70%, isopropyl alcohol having weight percentage in the range of 2-4%, a first polymer as a gelling agent having 5 weight percentage in the range of 0.1-0.5%, and a second polymer as a thickening agent having weight percentage in the range of 0.05-0.5%. The ratio of the second polymer to the first polymer in the sanitizing composition is in the range of 1:2.5 to 1:3.4. The present subject matter also provides a process for preparing the sanitizing composition. The process comprises dispersing the first polymer and the second 10 polymer in water at 800-1500 rpm to obtain a first mixture. Ethanol and isopropyl alcohol are mixed with the first mixture at 600-1000 rpm to obtain a second mixture. Water is then mixed with said second mixture at 90-120 rpm to obtain the sanitizing composition.
