The present invention relates to a method for producing a polysaccharide and aconjugate vaccine comprising the polysaccharide produced according to themethod of the invention. A characteristic step in the method according to theinvention is that the pH of the culture medium is kept at a constant valuewith base or acid until adjustment with respectively base or acid is notpossible anymore. Using the method of the inven~tion, capsular polysaccharidemay be obtained in a high yield in a relatively short time. The method isstraightforward, reproducible and cost-effective.
