PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for inhibiting the elevation of blood ethanol concentration that promptly exerts effect on drinking, and to provide a food, beverage or medicine containing the agent.SOLUTION: (1) An agent for inhibiting the elevation of blood ethanol concentration contains an ingredient of a plant belonging to genus Allium as an active ingredient. (2) In the agent for inhibiting the elevation of blood ethanol concentration, the plant belonging to genus Allium is garlic. (3) In the agent for inhibiting the elevation of blood ethanol concentration, the plant belonging to genus Allium is onion. (4) In the agent for inhibiting the elevation of blood ethanol concentration, one of the active ingredients is alliin(S-(2-propenyl)-L-cysteine sulfoxide).
