PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting chair in which a space for allowing the passage of a passenger can be formed even if the chair is arranged in a narrow place, and which can secure the safety of a user of the lifting chair and the passenger.SOLUTION: A lifting chair for riding over steps comprises: a proximal part 3 having a turning mechanism 4 arranged in an upper part of a base part 2 a movable part 5 arranged at the proximal part 3 so as to be vertically liftable by drive means 6 a seat part 7 arranged at the movable part 5 so as to be turnable an operation part 8 having an operation mechanism arranged in a lower part of the seat part 7 and a first cable 9 and a second cable 10 for connecting the operation mechanism and the turning mechanism 4. The lifting chair is constituted so that the seat part 7 is turnable at a turning operation of the operation mechanism irrespective of a lift height of the seat part 7, the operation mechanism is lockable at a non-turning operation even if the seat part 7 is located in any turning position, and a space S can be formed by folding the seat part 7 by turning it.
