PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter that enables a mechanism for stopping rotation to operate stably.SOLUTION: A catheter comprises: a tube-shaped rotary shaft body 13 that is connected to a drive unit 5 and to which rotation of the drive unit 5 is transmitted a tube-shaped torque wire 12 that is fixed to the rotary shaft body 13 and transmits the rotation of the rotary shaft body 13 to a tip of the catheter 10A and an optical fiber 11 that is inserted into the rotary shaft body 13 and the torque wire 12. The rotary shaft body 13 includes: a tube-shaped joint 15 and a tube-shaped rotary shaft pipe 14 that is arranged in a state of covering the joint 15. Either one of the joint 15 and the rotary shaft pipe 14 is connected to the drive unit 5 and the other one of the joint 15 and the rotary shaft pipe 14 is fixed to the torque wire 12.
