Peracetic acid in the gas phase or the aqueous solution is prepared on demand and on-site at a continuous manner. In order to meet the demand of the downstream operation, it is possible to produce a peracetic acid at a controlled rate. In one embodiment, distillation column reactors and pipelines are used for the production of peracetic acid. In another embodiment, the apparatus includes the production of peracetic acid distillation column and a continuous pot reactor.
