The present invention relates to novel summer squash (Cucurbita pepo L.) plants displaying a novel growth habit and high level of parthenocarpic fruit set. The plants disclosed within the present invention provide the grower with novel solutions to enhance its economical and commercial efficiency when summer squash fruits are to be produced under protected conditions, and more or less independently of the climate and temperature. The invention discloses a cultivated Cucurbita pepo plant, which is capable of producing parthenocarpic fruits and exhibits elongated internode length, wherein the parthenocarpic trait and elongated internodes length trait are controlled by genetic factors and independent of pollination and parthenocarpy-inducing chemical treatments.
