Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a method and system for downloading an audio/video file. The method comprises: receiving audio/video file information coming from a first terminal, where the audio/video file information comprises update information of an audio/video file; setting an acquisition clock for the audio/video file on the basis of the update information of the audio/video file; and downloading an updated audio/video file according to the acquisition clock. The embodiments of the present invention obviate the need for human intervention, thus saving time on a television series-following operation; at the same time, with the need for human intervention being obviated, prevented are missed opportunities for updating a television series.
