In the production of traditional bread rolls, portions of approx. circular-shaped dough (1) are placed in dishes (10) which advance under a forming tool (16) which embosses the upper surface with a pattern or makes a cut in the dough prior to baking. The tool (16) is attached to an arm (23) and supporting block (14). The assembly (13) has a series of forming tools (16) mounted on a transverse beam (15). Each forming tool has a slightly different pattern.
