Disclosed is a salty taste enhancer that contains an enzymatic decomposition product of an animal protein derived from fish or shellfish and a deamidated enzymatic decomposition product of a plant protein obtained by processing beans, wheat, corn or rice at a ratio of between 1:10 and 10:1,wherein the enzymatic decomposition products are treated with a protein-hydrolyzing enzyme.
