PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection handrail aid and self-supporting handrail connecting structure using the aid that are capable of connecting two self-supporting handrails installed at an interval so as to form a continuous handrail part even when a difference in height such as a step exists between the handrails installation locations and have excellent degree of freedom (flexibility), workability, versatility, and economical efficiency.SOLUTION: A connection handrail aid is composed of: a telescopic handrail part 2 for connecting self-supporting handrails 10, 11 installed at an interval and holding mechanisms 3 for holding the handrail part 2 so that the handrail part can rotate vertically and horizontally with respect to support pillars 10a, 11a constituting the self-supporting handrails 10, 11.
