The present invention relates to a biphasic antioxidant obtained from Curcuma Longa L, where the antioxidant is made up of a lipid soluble Curcumin portion and a water soluble protein portion further made up of 8,14, 20 and 28 kDa protiens. Also provided is a method of obtaining biphasic antioxidant form Curcuma Longa L. The antioxidant of the present invention can be used in various compositions and formulations for treatment of any condition that is responsive to antioxidants.
