PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin and compact biometric authentication device allowing a changeover between finger vein authentication and fingerprint authentication without performing a switch operation or the like.SOLUTION: The biometric authentication device inputs a ommateum image that is a set of fingerprint reduction images and vein reduction images of a finger 1 in a non-contact state by use of a reduction optical system including a lens array 3. Linearly polarized light is irradiated on the finger 1 by an illumination device 17, and only a polarized light component of a direction parallel to a polarized light direction of the linearly polarized light passes an analyzer 30, so that data I2 of the clear fingerprint reduction image by only reflected light on the finger surface is input. By subtracting a component of the fingerprint reduction image from data I1 of the vein reduction image, a clear vein reduction image by only light reflected and scattered inside the finger is obtained. A parallax between ommatidium images inside the input ommateum image is detected in a parallax detection calculation part 43, and a vein/fingerprint changeover part 45 changes over between the vein authentication and the fingerprint authentication based on the parallax.COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT【課題】スイッチ操作等を行うことなく指静脈認証と指紋認証の切り替えが可能な薄型・小型の生体認証装置を実現する。【解決手段】レンズアレイ3を含む縮小光学系を用い、非接触で指1の静脈縮小像と指紋縮小像の集合である複眼像を入力する。照明装置17により指1に直線偏光が照射され、この直線偏光の偏光方向と平行な方向の偏光成分のみが検光子30を通過するため、指表面での反射光のみによる鮮明な指紋縮小像のデータI2を入力可能である。この指紋縮小像の成分を静脈縮小像のデータI1から減算することにより、指内部で反射・散乱された光のみによる鮮明な静脈縮小像を得ることができる。入力された複眼像中の個眼像間の視差を視差検出演算部43で検出し、この視差に基づいて静脈/指紋切替部45は静脈認証と指紋認証を切替える。【選択図】図1
