The present invention relates to a method for preventing or treating cardiomyopathy due to energy failure in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of a vector which comprises a nucleic acid sequence of a gene that can restore energy failure. More particularly, the invention relates to a method for preventing or treating a cardiomyopathy associated with Friedreich ataxia in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of a vector which comprises a frataxin (FXN) encoding nucleic acid.La presente invención se refiere a un método para prevenir o tratar cardiomiopatía debido a falta de energía en un paciente que lo necesita, dicho método comprende administrar a dicho paciente una cantidad efectiva terapéuticamente de un vector que contiene una secuencia de ácido nucleico de un gen que puede restaurar la falta de energía. Mas particularmente, la invención se refiere a un método para prevenir o tratar una cardiomiopatía asociada con ataxia de Friedreich en un paciente que lo necesita, dicho método comprende administrar a dicho paciente una cantidad efectiva terapéuticamente de un vector que contiene un ácido nucleico que codifica una frataxina (FXN).
