The insertion system has two shells ultrasonically welded together, and a pusher for enabling insertion, with a string for withdrawing it, thus reducing the risk of perforation of the uterus. The T-shaped IUD (1), made from copper, comes with an insertion system (2) and a sterile package. It has a fixed point on its body where the branches diverge, increasing its capacity to retract for insertion and deploy to its maximum size, and to resist rotational stresses. The two branches of the T are bent to give them a double curvature and flexibility which oppose movements in the two axes of the uterine plane and conform to the shape of the uterine cavity. The insertion system has two shells welded together by ultrasound, a pusher and a string (5) for withdrawing it. The body of the device, which is 2 mm in diameter, is either 20 or 29 mm long.
