PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water activity reducing agent that is remarkably excellent in the effect of reducing water activity, and a variety of food products including the water activity reducing agent and being more excellent in preservation properties than before.SOLUTION: A water activity reducing agent includes (A) sorbitol, (B) xylitol and/or (C) erythritol. When the water activity reducing agent includes (A) and (B) or (A) and (C), the weight ratio of (A) and (B), (A):(B), is in the range from 50:50 to 25:75, or the weight ratio of (A) and (C), (A):(C), is in the range from 80:20 to 66.7:33.3. When the water activity reducing agent includes (A), (B) and (C), the content of (A) is 20 to 80 wt.% of the total amount of the water activity reducing agent, and the content of (C) is 25 wt.% or less of the total amount of the water activity reducing agent.
