A method and a system for managing Cell Broadcast (CB) alert messages are provided. The method sends a CB alert message to a plurality of communication devices in an alert area through a wireless communication channel. The CB alert message is sent by a CB alert system. Further, each of the plurality of the communication devices includes a CB message handling application for handling such CB alert messages. The method further receives one or more acknowledgement messages from one or more communication devices. The one or more acknowledgement messages are received in response to receipt of the CB alert message at the plurality of communication devices. The one or more acknowledgement messages are received from the CB message handling application in respective communication devices.
