The spade handle support comprises a stand with a vetical section (3) a hinge (2) and an upper section (1) connected to the hinge at one end and the spade handle (4) at the other. Pressure applied vertically to the end of the handle (A), which has a stud attachment, uses the support unit to act as a fulcrum for leverage at the blade tip, (5) which is embedded in the earth. The hinge unit may be in three different forms, viz., (a) a rubber binding clamp, (b) a rotary hinge member with a spring loaded side location, (c) a thin steel strip. The digging component may be a spade, shovel or three-pronged fork.
