A leap frog filter consists of a number of biquadratic filter stages. The characteristics contain three or more real transmission zero points where the z-coordinate is plus or minus unity and one or more transmission zero points in the plus or minus z- plane. It is formed by a sampling filter with characteristics equivalent to a filter consisting of a series connection of a filter stage with a given transfer function and a second stage with a number of biquadratic filter stages coupled in a leap-frog configuration. The first and last stages absorb reactive pseudo power. The transfer function in each case is proportional to the same factor. The other stages are loss-free to reactive pseudo-power.
