PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope in which a bending portion and a soft portion of the insertion section thereof are firmly and detachably joined to each other, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A proximal piece 20a of a bending portion 11 and a connection ring 29 of a soft portion 12 that is externally fitted to the proximal piece 20a are coupled together by a clip 200. The connection ring 29 is provided with a notch 217 axially extending from one end thereof. The proximal piece 20a is provided with a protrusion 201 formed integrally with the proximal piece 20a and inserted into the notch 217. The clip 200 is detachably mounted to the fitted proximal piece 20a and the connection ring 29, and axially engages each of the proximal piece 20a and the connection ring 29 with respect to an axial relative movement between the proximal piece 20a and the connection ring 29.
