PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a powder coated with a hydrolytic organic compound or a hydrolyzate and/or a dehydrated condensate thereof, capable of suppressing occurrence of hydrogen gas, and having superior water-repellency (lipophilicity).SOLUTION: A method of producing a powder coated with an organic compound includes: (1) a first process of grinding and/or mixing at least a powder and a hydrolytic organic compound (2) a second process of bringing the ground/mixed product by the first process into contact with at least one selected from water and a lower alcohol under a condition of a temperature of 40-200°C and 50-100% of a saturated steam pressure at the temperature and (3) a third process of heating the powder obtained by the second process at 50-200°C in the presence or absence of at least one selected from water and a lower alcohol with &le50% of the saturated steam pressure at the temperature.
