ABSTRACT Crop spray application is a complex process and unwanted spray drifts can result in reduced overall spray efficiency, environmental contamination, negatively affect neighbouring crops, as well as result in significant financial loss. Currently, a system that can detect or monitor the spray drift resulting from the spray does not exist. In the event of drift, the farmer can intervene and tune the spray process only if they are aware of a potential spray drift event in real-time. This innovative patent discusses a low-cost IoT solution using smart sensing devices and artificial intelligence (Al) to solve the problem of spray drift detection by providing real-time feedback to the farmer about any spray drift event.
