The invention relates to a method for scrubbing air to be purified from a stable with an aqueous washing liquid, wherein the air to be purified is passed through a scrubber having an air supply side and an air discharge side and cleaned air exits the scrubber. According to the invention the air will be cooled to below the dew point using a heat exchanger, resulting in cleaning the air to a greater extent and recovering heat. At the same time the formation of slime is counter-acted. More specifically at least 1 flow selected from the air to be purified and the aqueous washing liquid is cooled using the heat exchanger, wherein the wall of the heat exchanger keeps the flow and the cooling medium separated.
