Methods for spraying a coating composition, with or without a fire retardant, onto a wood product, and wood products produced by the methods are disclosed. The method comprises a two-component system comprising (i) one or more aliphatic isocyanate compounds； and (ii) one or more aliphatic amine compounds, and, optionally, one or more fire retardants which are stored separately and combined in a spray gun to form a mixture which is then sprayed onto the wood product to form an external coating on one or more surfaces of the wood product.
