PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having tyrosinase inhibition activity, a tyrosinase inhibitor containing the compound as an active ingredient, and furthermore a skin whitening cosmetic having an excellent skin whitening effect such as prevention or improvement of abnormal melanin pigment deposit to the epidermis of mammals.
SOLUTION: An extract of Phyllostachys pubescens and a compound represented by formula (I) (wherein Rs are the same or different and each is an alkyl group) or a salt thereof are disclosed. The skin whitening cosmetic includes the extract and the compound or the salt thereof.
