A herbal formulation comprises an extract obtained from the leaf/bark/stem/fruit/seed of the plants Dendrocalamus strictus, Achyranthes aspera, Moringa oleifera, Mangifera indica, Madhuca indica and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable additives, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable additives are selected from the group consisting of solvents, binders, adjuvants, fillers, disintegrants, preservatives and colours, said formulation for oral administration is selected from the group consisting of tablets, pills, capsules, drinks, syrups, elixirs, suspensions and emulsions.
