PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical stopcock constructed and arranged so as to withstand high pressure and gamma radiation.SOLUTION: The stopcock 10 generally includes a housing 12 and a valve member 14. The valve member 14 is trapped within the housing 12 so that when it is subjected to a relatively high pressure, the valve member 14 will not fall out from the housing 12. A handle member 16 is attached to the valve member 14 and allows the valve member 14 to be rotated, from open to closed positions. In some preferred embodiments, the handle member 16 locks the valve member 14 within the housing 12, when it is attached.
