A flavouring apparatus for coating a product with flavouring comprises a receptacle 110 having an open first end 112 and a peripheral sidewall 111 extending from the first end to define a flavouring volume for receiving a portion of product and a dose of flavouring, and an ejecting member 118a movable relative to the peripheral sidewall for ejecting the flavoured product out of the first end of the receptacle. A drive system (see fig. 2B) rotates at least the peripheral sidewall of the flavouring receptacle so as to mix the product and flavouring, and the flavouring receptacle is arranged, e.g. angled, such that the product and flavouring are retained in the flavouring volume during mixing. The apparatus may comprise a plurality of receptacles moveable sequentially to product receiving and ejecting positions. The receptacles are preferably cylindrical, with the ejecting member forming a base part of the cylinder. In one embodiment the ejecting member 118a travels through the receptacle to eject the contents. In another embodiment (see figures 5A, 5B) the ejecting member 118a remains stationary and movement of the sidewall causes ejection of the contents. A method of coating product in flavouring is also claimed.
