An ultrasonic treatment apparatus 3 is provided with a distal-end treatment unit 50a which has functions of ultrasonic vibrations and electric cautery and has a solid structure. When it is desirable to obtain a tissue specimen of a living tissue in a treated site from a body cavity of a subject, for example, ultrasonic vibration is transmitted from the distal-end treatment unit 50a of the ultrasonic treatment apparatus 3to the living tissue including the treated site as treatment energy, whereby the living tissue is crushed. Other incision actions are performed through selection of one of the functions of ultrasonic vibration and the electric cautery. Thus, heat damages to the tissue specimen of the living tissue to be incised can be prevented and the treatment can be simplified.
