PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of difficulty in finding that the feedback control for the depth direction of a confocal probe is not normally conducted.SOLUTION: A method for checking the operation of a confocal probe capable of moving a scan surface at a position conjugate with a confocal pin hole in the depth direction includes the steps of: fixing a confocal probe scanning the surface of a sample piece continuously or discontinuously changing in height in the depth direction with respect to the scan surface with the fixed confocal probe generating an image using light extracted by the confocal pin hole of light returned from the scanned surface displaying a generated image on a predetermined monitor and performing the above series of procedures while changing the position of the scan surface in the depth direction two or more times to check the operation of the confocal probe on the basis of images displayed on the monitor at the respective times.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】共焦点プローブの深度方向のフィードバック制御が正常に行われていなくても、それに気づくことが難しかった。【解決手段】共焦点ピンホールと共役の位置の走査面を深度方向に移動させることが可能な共焦点プローブの動作をチェックするための方法であり、共焦点プローブを固定し、固定された共焦点プローブにより、その走査面に対して深度方向の高さが連続的に又は不連続に変わる試料片の表面を走査し、走査された表面より戻される光のうち共焦点ピンホールによって抽出される光を用いて画像を生成し、生成された画像を所定のモニタに表示し、上記一連の手順を深度方向における走査面の位置を変化させながら複数回行い、各回でモニタに表示される画像に基づいて共焦点プローブの動作をチェックする。【選択図】図1
