PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately detecting &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain, and a method for classification between &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain and non-&alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain based on discrimination of &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain.
SOLUTION: The method for detection of &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain is characterized by using &alpha-1,6 fucose specific lectin whose interaction intensity with &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain is ten or more times as high as the interaction intensity with non-&alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain, as a detection medium of &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain. In the classification method of &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain, &alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain is separated from non-&alpha-1,6 fucose sugar chain by using the &alpha-1,6 fucose specific lectin as a bonding medium.
