This invention discloses 2-methylene-19,26,27-trinor-(20S)-vitamin D analogs,andspecifically 2-methylene-19,26,27-trinor-(20S)-1.alpha.-hydroxyvitamin D3 andpharmaceuticaluses therefor. This compound exhibits pronounced activity in arresting theproliferation ofundifferentiated cells and inducing their differentiation to the monocyte thusevidencing useas an anti-cancer agent and for the treatment of skin diseases such aspsoriasis as well as skinconditions such as wrinkles, slack skin, dry skin and insufficient sebumsecretion. Thiscompound also has little, if any, calcemic activity and therefore may be usedto treatautoimmune disorders or inflammatory diseases in humans as well as renalosteodystrophy.This compound may also be used for the treatment or prevention of obesity.(see formula I)where X1 and X2, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen or a hydroxy-protectinggroup.
