This invention relates to an oral medicinal formulation comprising: bioactive material extract, derived from plant species of the genus caralluma, in an amount of about 1 to 70 % of the mass of the formulation bioactive material extract derived from plant species of the genus cinnamomum in an amount of about 1 to 70 % of the mass of the formulation zinc ion source in the form of nanoparticles that are substantially non-aggregated, in an amount of about 0.1 to 20 % of the mass of the formulation and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
